Martina led a private surf lesson for my daughter and I. It was an absolutely amazing experience. I am a complete beginner and the ocean can feel quite intimidating at first, but Martina made us feel calm, safe and confident from the very start. She was thoughtful and incredibly encouraging, focussing on what we were good at and building on that. We had a great experience with our instructor  Elin. She was very knowledgeable and very patient with both of us.  We had a private lesson for a hour and a half and felt it very beneficial. Great instructions given and super supportive of newbies.  Thank you for a great afternoon in the surf. Trav was extremely helpful and forthcoming with information to get the lesson booked. Top 5 experience in NZ. The 2 hr deal (private lesson with an extra hour to mess around) was absolutely amazing. The french guy was very personable, and a great instructor. I would recommend this to everyone coming to visit!

Took my class of year 7 & 8 students for a surf lesson with Travis and the crew. Couldn't of had a better experience, great communication prior to the event, he even got a few extra staff in for the day as we had a couple of students who are new to the country and have never been to a beach. Provided surf boards and wet suits (top quality and suitable sizes for the different ages). Instructor's knew their stuff and had nearly the whole class standing up surfing by the end of the lesson. I had a fantastic experience with South Pacific Surf School! Having called up earlier in the day, the team were able to fit in a 1:1 90-minute lesson for me in the early afternoon, advising on when the surf conditions would be more comfortable for a total beginner (with the tide starting to lower). The cost of a private session feels really reasonable for all the work that goes into it, the quality of the instruction, and all the equipment being provided. All of the team were super friendly and I chatted to a few of them upon arrival and being fitted into a wetsuit. I then headed out for my actual lesson with Simon, who explained the "theory" to me on the beach very clearly. We headed into the water and in order to maximise the time I was spending practicing getting to me feet, Simon helped to get me through the incoming waves and picked out some good waves for me to catch. I didn't catch them all, but Simon was really patient, provided helpful critique and tips after each attempt, and was extremely encouraging, celebrating woth me when I did get to my feet. My goal going into the lesson was to get to my feet once, but I ended up doing so five or six times, with each wave lasting 15-25 seconds - so I was really pleased with the progress I was able to make in practicing this core skill during my lesson. I would highly recommend South Pacific Surf School to others and would definitely return on my next visit to the Mount to learn some more! I had an amazing time in the surf sisters program, had a great group of girls all enthusiastic to learn and progress together. Trav and the team were brilliant! Not just spoon feeding us surfing and pushing us on waves but actively encouraging us to try and catch our own, paddle around to try and find the right position with help from their tips and tricks. They were stoked for us and our progress, helped make a super safe and happy learning atmosphere for a really fun sport! Hope to come back at some point in the future to surf with them again
